Chautauqua Cyber Club
The Chautauqua Cyber Club was organized in
December
1998. A year later we began a community outreach that provided
computers to persons who were homebound. This was expanded to
include students who needed computers. Because of the outreach
we incorporated and became a 501(c)3 non-profit in order to
accept donations from business and government sources. Over the
years we have placed over 400 computers in needy homes and with
students.
We have a partnership with Northwest Florida State College
and CCC volunteers have been refurbishing computers for
students. Our monthly meetings are held at the college and
we conduct training for our members and hold special technical
sessions as well. Our club volunteers also support a new senior
center by maintaining their computer resource
training center.
While computing is the hobby that brought us together we
enjoy the social aspects of gatherings that include cook-outs
and dinners. Our membership is primarily senior citizens but all
parties are welcome.
